Are you finding things difficult to cope with at the moment or having feelings that are causing you to feel alone, concerned or distressed?

I'm Jo and I would love to help you. I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the NCPS. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic space, where your voice will truly be heard.

You might have already tried speaking to friends and family but found yourself unable to say your true feelings and thoughts in fear of upsetting them or them not hearing you. The counsellor's job is to support and guide you and to help you find the solutions and the way forward to live life on your terms. They are someone who is unattached to your situation and offers a safe space where you can speak openly and honestly without fear of consequences.

Counselling can seem daunting at first but reaching out and making contact is the first step to start the process towards healing and self growth, and not feeling alone.

            About Me

I am a proud Royal Navy Veteran having served two deployments in the Bosnian Crisis.

I have worked for 25 years in a variety of agencies and charities prior to starting my own private practice.

My previous experience includes working with adults and children from all walks of life and often in crisis.

My life experiences have exposed me to a wide range of situations and challenges, leaving me resilient, empathic and non- judgmental.

I am passionate about being outdoors, by the ocean and cold water therapy.

My super power is my Dyslexia.

I appreciate how daunting, and possibly overwhelming, it can be trying to choose a counsellor. It might even be difficult to reach out and ask for help, but please remember that sometimes we all struggle and feel anxious or depressed and sometimes we just need someone to talk to.

Counselling can provide you with that place to talk, as well as helping you to make positive changes and find a way forward, so please don't be afraid to get in touch. I am very approachable and will always aim to respond to you as soon as I can.

I am very gentle and patient and I work with the belief that you are the expert on yourself and therefore I respect your thoughts and feelings. Everything you experience is valid and I will not judge you. My aim is to offer a friendly and non-judgmental space for you to talk openly and in confidence.

Some of the issues and difficulties I can help and support you through include: anxiety and stress, trauma, depression and low mood, abuse, difficult relationships, anger management, loss, bereavement and grief, low self-esteem and low confidence.

Choosing the right therapist for you is important and this first chat will give us an opportunity to get to know each other. You can ask me any questions you may have.

I will invite you to say something briefly about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to get out of it, understanding that it might not be easy to talk about the things that really matter straight away.

Together we can decide if what I offer might be suitable for you. There is NO obligation to continue if things don't feel right, but if we do, we can look to arrange a first session soon.
